A Brief Study Of My Life

by @lorrainecolon

Making my debut on the Stage of Life I was ill-prepared for the coming strife Childhood in chaos, love in scarce supply, (Never was the apple of my parents' eye) From the School of Life there was much to glean, But as I look back, I'm jarred by the scene: Forced upon the stage with no song to sing, Expected to soar despite broken wing Entered adulthood with no guiding star, Made rash decisions - some quite bizarre More than once endured Love's sudden good-byes . . . . (How could Love tell such convincing lies?) Tears fell too often from these pain-filled eyes, My heart also wept -- no one heard its cries Coping on my own, did the best I could, Made it to a ripe old age . . . "knock on wood" Though Life's hours wane, there's still cause to mourn . . . I've no one to tell me why I was born!
