Rainy Gray Day

It was morning

in a small city on the East Coast.

Rain fell gently.

The sky was a muted gray.

It was early

little traffic,

quiet,

a feeling of stillness.

As the rain fell, two cats slept.

They always slept together.

One brown, one gray

like sisters.

It was calming to watch them.

The sound of the rain

was soothing, almost hypnotic.

It was a cool fall day.

Leaves still clung to the trees

gold, red, and orange.

As rain struck the side of the building,

it made a sound

like a faint drumbeat.

The air smelled clean, refreshed,

with a hint of wet leaves

a natural perfume.

The entire scene

evoked a feeling of peace.

Watching the rain and the world

felt like being transported

to another place.
