A New Day

Today I found the sun's warmth Tickling my neck, A summer breeze Kissing my cheek, Waking me up to another chance. Today I found a robin's sweet melody in my ear It's harmony soothing my soul Another chance at life, at love. Today I found the earth's rich clay Around and beneath and between my toes Hugging me But not hurting me Caressing me Not cornering me Another chance at growth, at freedom. How grateful am I! How joyful my smile! How peaceful, how calm, my spirit. I remember briefly The thunder and pain But today is another chance.
