adulting

"adulting"

A rust‑worn Saab dragged up the drive,

gravel grinding under balding tyres.

Debt hung in the air

like a breath no one wanted to take.

Inside, the fridge hummed empty.

A pile of washing waited in the hallway,

its sour edge rising

before I even reached the door.
