If Love Could Have Saved You

by @Lizbev37

I often ask God why, With my remaining breaths, As I struggle to make sense Of pain, loss and death. Even if God descended, And gave his reasons clear, I do not think I could accept Words I do not wish to hear. Sometimes love is too intense, Too difficult alone to bear, And loving brings such suffering, When being alive feels quite unfair. Nothing cuts as deeply, Nothing hurts the same, When the greatest loss of all, Is when a broken heart remains. If all of my love could have saved you From the final curtain call, You would have lived forever And you would never have died at all. ©️Lizzie Bevis
