I Swept Away the Ashes

I swept away the ashes Causing gray flakes to fill the air Clinging to new found objects I swept away the lies Clearing them out of the open Shifting them to be forgotten I swept away a tear Hoping to sweep away emotions That flood my vacant mind I swept away my hope That this could get better Replacing it with realization I swept away the bronze ring A promise that became broken A smile now lost in time I swept away the ashes Just to see the floorboards yet again
