Sprout

by Kalliopie

An unsure smile A whispered word A backwards run Still shy of the world So independent But still needing mom Friends she wants to make A look back to see if she's wrong Headstrong little baby Opinions always said loud Now quiet as a mouse As though they'll fear her sound My favorite tiny flower Grown strong on the window pane Now planted in a field Looks like she's afraid of change

Watching my daughter be so nervous around a group of her peers had me in tears, why? I don't know– it just felt so emotional 😭
