Noise

As I look upon -

The sprawling fields of home,

My face aglow with the biting wind,

A wave of serenity washes over me.

The recent days seem to get harder,

But returning here,

Offers me sanctuary -

A peace found rarely, becomes me

The humming of my thoughts,

Quiets to a whisper,

My shoulders droop,

My heart settles,

The noise stops.

Not forever,

But just enough -

As a bird starts to talk to its friend,

As the crops murmur to each other in passing,

A tune of my soul’s creation,

Playing in my head.

I am at peace.

I am home.
