State of The Union Address

by tuffy-mutombo

Living in a world where we go to more funerals than birthdays Building more palaces while people starve in the worst ways Panhandlers occupy Hollywood Boulevard Walking on stars while facing their nightmares Social media created for us to hide behind our scars, while we drown in fear and tears Government policies forged with lies Even the blind can see, freedom has been robbed like a highway robbery, no compelling evidence so they dismiss the case, as they force feed us defeat On the screens all you see is the life of the elite, splurging your tax money as they behind philanthropy, giving to charity while rigging the stock markets, it’s all a ploy to distract us from our purpose Lacking consistency so we sleep with procrastination, we are a lazy nation that will believe in anything without contesting I will confess I feel perplexed As we drown in stress To end up in the belly of the beast Seeking rest, but lacking the heart to invest in time to process, victims of so many losses This is the state of the union address Truth has never hidden from lies so open your eyes and distress
