Nothing to take

When death finds me,

It will find nothing to take.

Only a body that once pretended to live,

A consciousness that moved on instinct,

Morals personified, but felt nothing

A being devoid of a soul

That even death will pity.

And in that final moment

There will be no cry,

Only the silence that has always been there.

I had already been dead

Long before death’s final kiss.
