running in the dark

There’s something truly enlivening.

about running in the dark,

running free-form, with the cold trying

to latch on your skin

But the heat from the body in motion

repels it like sin.

Freedom from judgement

until, in an instant, fear takes hold.

Liberation surrenders

to the boggie-man;

The racing mind kicks in,

propelling you faster —
