Good dog

A hungry dog

makes an obedient one

you told me

I’ve sacrificed the joy

in my jugular for anguish

in my cornea

I’ve been starved of air

while morning doves sing

with plastic in their brains

I’ve been caught

humming to songs

incomprehensible

And I’ve been

earning some money

to buy your love

But a hungry dog

becomes a starving dog

and then it dies, gone
