The Parent Tree

I want to

Be like a tree

Tall, strong and comforting

Let my kids come under my shade

And see their fears shattering

Let them enjoy my fruits of wisdom

ONLY when they are ready

Let me give them this freedom

Let them cool down in my shade

When it’s hot

And hug me tight

When in the storm they are caught

Let them see me stand firm in fall

Loosing everything

And see the hope

That it will be better in spring

Let me be that tree

But set them free…

When time comes for them to fly

Hesitate not, to say goodbye

Let them know

I will be there

If they ever need to come back

It will be fair

It’s okay to come

Rest in my shade

The love for them

Shall never fade

Soar high

Don’t fear the stride

There is someone

Always feeling the pride

Do your duty

Make the whole world bright

If it gets too tough

Come hold me tight

That’s the way

You will grow so strong

That generations will go

Without doing any wrong

This is the biggest gift I can give

To the world before I leave…

Notes

Every parent wants to be this tree, but we all struggle in reality.

Let every parent keep trying…

And let every child remember that their parents are trying, always…
