Isn't it a little cruel?

Isn't it a little cruel?

Isn't it a little wrong?

Did it ever occur to you,

That my heart's not that strong?

He asked you to prom,

With an adorable note,

And a box full of donuts.

"Please donut say no. Prom?"

You even offered me one,

And it tasted bitter.

Though I couldn't be happier,

For you.

Isn't it a little cruel?

Isn't it somehow mean?

Do you even see,

How this demeans me?

I asked you to be my valentine,

Two Februarys ago,

And you told me no.

I had been friend-zoned.

Yet, you tell me your struggles with love,

Traumas you gained due to the wrong one.

While I sit and try to calm my mind,

And pay attention,

As I hold back a sea of emotion

Isn't it a little cruel?

Isn't it some sort of crime?

Don't you see that you're giving,

My pain overtime?

I guess I'm swinging single for a while,

But, never fear, I'll still plaster that smile.

As you tell me every little interaction,

Love blossoming with every action.

Every blush, every flush, a rush of feeling,

While I feel like I'm sinking.

I hope this works out better,

Than your last lover;

I'm crossing my fingers.

But isn't it a little cruel?

Isn't it a bit narcissistic?

Doesn't it seem a little selfish?

Or is that my inner cynic?

Aren't you being insensitive?

Should I say something or let it slide?

Is this what friendship's meant to be?

Or is my heart just skating on ice?
