Day Dreamer

Day Dreamer Standing on the side scanning the crowd, 1 poem, 2 poems, its my turn, I close my eyes, deep breaths breathe in, Breathe out, All the bodies crammed in that small space caused the air to be hot and heavy The heavy air filled my lungs almost choking me I open my eyes to do one more quick scan The crowd looked a lot bigger from up here I can’t find her She’s my only inspiration to keep me going where is she Focus, read I’m speaking the words that I worked so hard to memorize but I almost can’t form them I missed a word, screw it, keep going Between the pressure of getting this out and her being on my mind it felt like it wouldn’t end My heart was racing the same way it did the first time she smiled at me But if I saw that smile now it would calm me down One more line, spit it out and it’s over I scan the crowd again when I finished I see the crowd cheering but the noise is drowned out by my thoughts I can’t find her, where is- Front row, smiling and cheering, I smile back Then the bell rings and I snap out of my day dream I look around, desks, a white board, and a pen and paper I pick up the pen and begin to write… Standing on the side…
