Dear alter-ego

by Yonwato

I drown myself in me, Immerse in endless tasks, To escape your grip, You are my doom, Yet also my drive. You make me feel like a fraud, A mask I wear each day, I claw at my own face, Haunted by your whispers, Lost in a haze, I zone out, I drink, Trying to numb the noise. You push me to the edge, Where shadows loom large, My heart races, Thoughts spiral, A storm I can't control, You are the phantom that lingers, In the corners of my mind. I see you in the mirror, A reflection of my fears, You are the weight on my chest, The knot in my stomach, A relentless tide, I can't seem to fight. You see this battle, It gives me strength, A flicker of hope, To rise above, To reclaim myself, From your clutches. Dear alter-ego, You may be my anxiety, But I am more, I am the light in the darkness, The calm in the storm, And I will overcome, I will find peace, Amid your chaos.
