Fake joy

The masks I wear fit me to a tee,

Fooling those that cannot see.

They look from the left, they look from the right,

But I hide my feelings with all of my might.

Not because truth would tear them apart,

But because once, it wasn’t safe to start.

So calm became armor, silence my art,

A careful protection around a broken heart.
