The Mirror

I walk by the mirror Day after day unchanged With a warm glow of childhood And a silvery glimmer of the future I walk by the mirror A scratch here and there But never seen from an outsider I run past the mirror And to my surprise The mirror is different The warm glow has ignited into a flame And the silvery shine is no longer so distant When I knew what to expect I was missing the magic Of change I slowly tiptoe past the mirror Admiring it for its timeless qualities And never again Running and losing the magic Of change
