as to a wing

I write to you as to a wing

your name circles above my head

like a silent satellite

it shines

but does not remember

why it shines

your voice

half spell half forgetting

does not retell the world

it kind of burns it

into a darker brightness

we meet

nerve to nerve

where fear and wonder

share the same coat

light hides in the dark

like a refugee

who has crossed

too many frontiers

it disguises itself

as a wound in the night

while darkness slips

into the fluorescence

of everyday gestures

paying at the counter

answering the emails

or the usual I’m fine

life is not a surface

but a stack of tears

at the top: postcards

from paradise

down below:

pressure that crushes

even the word I

into an unpronounceable mineral

between them

transparent creatures of meaning

rise and fall luminous

incomprehensible
