Pain

The door was left open, the light turned to dark,From a family trusted, we lost the first spark.Between devil and angel, in a world broken apart,We are mourning for Zach, with a hole in our heart."Why, why?" the cry echoes through weeks of the pain,A brother, a friend—killed, and we’re left in the rain. But I remember the mother, the voice soft and steady,Who chased every tear before we were ready.A soul kind and deep, with a strength true and wide,A constant warm guide with no reason to hide. Now love is a butterfly in a garden so still,With wings made of velvet, defying the chill.A story the sun told in gold and in lace,Before you vanished to a shadow-filled place. Our feet are still bleeding, we try hard to run,But we’re walking through poppies, though the walking isn't fun.It isn’t for drama, or to stay in the hate,It’s just that life was so pretty before it met fate.I promise to cherish the secret you kept,While the morning still flickers where the wanderers slept.Goodbye, sweet Zach, we will see you quite soon,Between the stone and the stars and the light of the moon.
