You were standing, Hands outstretched I was afraid. Afraid you'd catch my brain if I stepped closer, Or if you did. But then You touched my face, So gently, Just as you own my heart. I was waiting for the blow, Wondering if this too Was just a trick Another way to catch me off guard. But instead, You drew me in, Placed my stiff face In the crook of your neck, Held me close, And whispered, “It’s alright.”

Unexpected
