the border

i don’t know

where i end

where dust

continues me

i was here

before my name

breath is not mine

air arrives

leaves

between

something fades

something gathers

each morning

i gather less

with the joy

of fading

like a leaf

forgetting its green

if there were a border

it would not hold

we are

already

beyond

on the other side

we are closest

to non-being

in being

and not

knowing
