Spotlight

A drunken walk in the dead of night

as my balance falters

wobbling down the main road

composing myself for the cars driving by

their headlights a spotlight

like the one I'll some day own

people will like my work, my writing

seeing it on movie screens

some day that light will be mine

as I give a speech on a stage

to prove the doubters wrong

the light will be all mine

and you'll see my face forever
