Nails on a Chalkboard

Nails on a chalkboard,

Blade in your hand.

You've convinced yourself,

That pain's your friend.

Yet, you remain,

In the same static place.

Isn't that a sign,

That there's another way?

Nails on a chalkboard,

Marks on your arms.

Some old, some newer,

But all of them are scars.

The darkness whispers,

And you turn to listen.

"One more time,

Let's go again."

Nails on a chalkboard,

Tears falling from your eyes.

I know hope is drying up,

But there's an oasis in sight.

Keep on walking forward,

Don't let the darkness lead you blind.

Surely you know that this pain,

Isn't all there is to life?

Nails on a chalkboard,

I've seen this before.

It didn't help her,

The darkness spread forevermore.

Now I wonder,

Did I do all I could,

To help out a friend,

As I should?

Nails on a chalkboard,

A friend waiting outside.

I'll knock on the door,

And stay all night.

Pain is a burden,

That we all share.

I know you hurtin',

But don't say nobody cares...
