On Chaos

I am a hyperactive architect

constructing tall cacophonies to stand

against the thumb of culture's howling winds,

which seek to blow me back to life's demands:

to be pragmatic, diligent, keen,

walking with purpose, teeter between

uniqueness and conformity.

Um... hello. Have you met me?

I come from banjo-picking bluegrass jams,

where chaos fondles order, tune meets din.

I sprouted strong from soil steeped in whimsy,

With touches of Quixote, Holmes, and Finn.

Like Rainsford foiled that beast upon his trail,

I’ll guard my precious chaos tooth and nail.
