Perfectly Broken

Your wounds are closed

And the scars you wear

Are beautifully you:

Remember you are still

breathing, though the air is

On fire and the smoke is hard

To see through:

Your heart is fireproof.

You stop in the middle of the storm

And smile because the grey cold rain

Is now an old friend,

At peace in the

Broken places.

Old memories no longer

Hold you in place;

You walk right through them like a

gallery in your museum and appreciate

The art it left it behind.

The old loves from your past

Did not break your heart;

Your heart divided itself to love

Each one in its own place and time:

Put them all together and

You are whole.

The world is falling apart

Around you because you loved

It to pieces,

Perfectly broken and in

The end it all fits.
