“Don’t start”?
Has he already begun
his ritual of silence
after a fight—
two days without a word,
without looking at you?
Worse still,
if you’re living
under the same roof.
He told me he was moving out,
asked if I wanted to live
in our old apartment.
But he already knows
I’m somewhere else,
living another life.
So I think he only wanted
to stir up conversation,
to awaken some kind
of concern in me.
