Dream Catcher

Night after night I toss and creep,

“Dear Moon and Stars, why can’t I sleep?

You blink and glow above my bed

Are you the thoughts inside my head?”

The moon leans low with silver light,

The stars all whisper through the night:

“We’re not the ones who steal your rest,

We simply guard the sky’s dark chest.”

“But every time the world grows deep,

You wake my mind instead of sleep.

Why must your light fall through my bars? Why do you watch me, patient stars?”

They shimmer soft, a quiet spark,

And answer gently from the dark:

“We’re not the thieves of dreams you seekWe shine for souls who cannot sleep.”

The moon then smiles, both calm and stark:

“Some hearts are lanterns for the dark.

You see us most when shadows keep

You shine the brightest without sleep.”
