Schrodinger's Nosferatu

If I don’t look into the mirror,

I both do and do not have a reflection.

Thusly,

I both am and am not a vampire.

Sure I walk in the day,

But vampire mythology is different

depending on who you ask.

Besides I don’t often show my skin

And I burn easily in the sun.

I’m no stranger to superpositions.

I happen to be in several.

Were I to hear of a cat in a box

I would simply walk away.

After all,

what would I do with an answer?

If I were Orpheus,

I wouldn’t look back.

Not because I didn’t love Eurydice,

but rather if I don’t turn around,

there's still a chance she’s there.

Damocles may well have had,

a sword hanging over his head.

But what good would come,

from looking up?

I’m sure he knows.

If I don’t look into the mirror,

I won’t know what I am.

Which means that,

if I cover my eyes,

there’s still a chance

that I’m her.
