Something Wicked in the Weeds

When you came in, the dogs went mad

And every flower turned pitch black

The hallway filled with buzzing wings

And something scratched beneath the room

I wanna do bad things with you

Your fingertips were cold as graves

Your teeth looked filed like little blades

The fairies circled overhead

With spider legs and crooked brooms

I wanna do bad things with you

The tulips opened wet and wide

Like peeled-back flesh with bones inside

And every snail that crossed your path

Left silver trails like leaking wounds

I wanna do bad things with you

You kissed me with a rotten mouth

That tasted sweet and smelled of drought

And somewhere in the garden dirt

Something alive began to move

I wanna do real bad things with you

Your eyes glowed green beneath the dark

Like lanterns drowned beneath the marsh

And every creature in the weeds

Crawled out to watch what we would do

I wanna do real bad things with you

The cellar door began to shake

The roots pushed up beneath the planks

The fairies sang in eerie voices

While chewing petals slick with rot and dew

I wanna do real bad things with you

Now every night the backyard breathes

The tulips twitch with swollen seeds

And snails climb slowly up the walls

To spell our names in blood and ooze

I wanna do bad things with you
