FOR THE SAKE OF ONE

Ages passed in trying to win that one soul,

For the sake of one tale, countless stories fell apart.

Behind that single destination lay endless desolations,

For the weight of one sorrow, many joys were left behind.

For the friendship of one stranger, several bonds were lost,

For the sake of one longing, countless desires were laid to rest.

That one cruel soul took away so many who were kind to me,

From a single answer, many questions rose within my heart.

What kind of love is this, Layla—someone, tell me,

In this storm, how many lamps I finally extinguished.
