Pride

I wear stars on my eyes

in an attempt to hide

the ink I've spilled

and the mistakes I've scribed.

Pride is no poison

It is fuel;

the thing I feed on when energy is low

the thing that keeps me going

when I should have let go.

Everything was pried from my hands;

my heart, my soul,

Now pride is all that remains

and it shows me where to go.

Believe in myself

to the greatest lengths

because I am a god

I am the rain

I am the one

who sings the name

I am the one

who will forever reign

And as long as control

is safe in my arms

I'll never need

to script another scar.

And I'll never kneel

my knees won't touch the ground

because I am a god

and pride is my cause.
