Opportunities Lost

by @Theblacksmithsson

Every opportunity results in a loss. They come rarely, with no preparation, and expect you quite unfairly, to choose your course in desperation. How can you choose a choice already made against your own wishes at the time. and perhaps your hurt had begun to fade, to show such compassion again would be a crime. Yet a second opportunity came, and you stoic and cool declined. Your own heart mangled, another maimed Who could tell what had been lost in your mind. A lost lover, a lost joy never discovered, A lost body at night to hold. What would have happened if you had been told of a happier you, would you change it all now for the thought of yourself, a bottle of gin and Lou.
