Call The Fire Home

by Sn

I left behind Love, a breath, a light, a breeze A shallow, a drop, a sun and my mind At this hour finally come the words Too late now but for what it’s worth I write them down Better outside than inside where I have kept them Or more that they stayed, shy before the daylight Reluctant to be written into reality Familiar fire burning in my heart tonight Not at ease, fighting frights Whoever wins decides how I sleep tonight And if I will see it turn 03.45 Beating rapid rabbit heart It runs out from between my ribs Out into the night, under moonlight Pale as the skin that glistens underneath Shaded streaks of willow leaves Groaning branches in still air The night I own, it owns Skin, muscle, blood and bone And everything I burn as I call the fire home
