Unwanted Inheritance

I am my mothers villain

My birthplace is the crime scene

Whose conception destroyed dreams

My integrity; obscene

Never able to appease

Desperate to keep the peace

I walk on glass; to mute sound

My exsistance; a caprice

Who I am is left unknown

Completely unknown by her

A version she created

My identity; a cur

Designed to be the fall guy

Destined to cause destruction

The cause of every flaw found

My purpose; deconstruction

Chastened with a false normal

My plights were not apparent

I reject this inheritance

No longer to be errant

Shattered glass breaks the silence

Standing on newly found ground

Determined to have my peace

My life; autonomy bound

The sounds spoken out loud were disavowed

Its rejection left no room for relationship

As the hero in my own story,

Still—

I am my mothers villain, in her story
