camellias

The white frost blissfully falls to the ground,

flaunting my crimson petals with glory.

I stand with courage, tall and defiant.

like a knight on the battlefield, self-reliant.

The snow engulfed me; I must not weaken.

I withstand raging blizzards,

I survive the crippling cold.

Even winter hushed at the sight of me.

Don’t I always win?

My scarlet petals never once faltered.

But when I plummet,

I sink deep down in the snow.

The ivory crystals caress my ruby petals languidly

before I take one last breath.

And what made me shine the most,

was the grave I lay in endlessly.

Albeit the strongest of knights tumbled down,

The snow caught him with open arms.

Even if he said he’d win.

Oh, how the snowflakes bid him farewell.

I fought the winter, and he fought the war.

And in the end, we were both tucked in by the white blankets.

The knight had love and dreams,

And vermilion carried mine.

And so, I was laid upon his gravestone.

A fallen camellia for a fallen knight.

Is he me?

Am I him?

Perhaps.

Fate wrote it softly on the frost,

The strongest do not shatter, they fall.

And when they fall?

The snow covers their name and moves on.

The inspiration for this poem was none other than Satoru Gojo. His dynamic and character intrigue me !!!
