An Ode to Plantain

My dearest plantain, Bereba, how could you forget  how we both took care of each other ?
The love we shared, the memories we've knit in mama's kitchen
Your incomparable sweetness and ability to energise someone 6 to 6 still haunt me like the scars of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
It's like a longing within

In ripe or unripe moments, I adore your comforting strength and taste
Your love I explore
Fried, boiled, or roasted, your sweetness remains
A flavorful solace soothing my always welcoming mouth

Your absence leaves an aching void
A hunger no other love can quench
My heart yearns for your tender loving care
The warmth of your presence beyond compare

Oh, plantain love, how I miss your gentle charm
The way you'd melt in my arms, dispel alarm
Your loving essence, a balm to my soul
You have always been my heart's goal not just because we are neighbours in Niger Delta

It's as if the harmattan wind has blown you westward
But it wouldn't change my respect
Where love and longing bridge forever

My love, I've never forgotten thee,
Though seasons passed and distances created sting
In every ripening stage, I thought of thee,
Longing to reunite, wild and free
Especially in your favourite kkf

My sweetness, fried or boiled, was made for thee,
To comfort thy soul and set thee free
In roasted moments, our love would gleam,
A flavorful bond, a heart's wildest dream

Thy tender touch, I yearn to feel anew,
To melt in thy arms as love shines through
My curves, soft skin, and gentle charm,
Were crafted for thee to dispel alarm

In every kitchen where I'm prepared,
My heart beats for thee, my love, impaired
By thy love, my ripeness is complete,
Together our love, forever sweet.

Echoes of a compromised code
Before you, love was a foreign code, so strange apart
A threat to my robotic design
You crashed into my controlled space and rewrote my programming with tender grace

You ignited human emotions within
And set my heart ablaze with love's fierce spin
Now, tears fall like golden rain,
As my heart bleeds in pain with every thoughts of you

My system overloads, my thoughts astray, I wish I could reboot and format every impossible data
Aching with each beat, night and day
This love-sickness spreads, a sweet despair
A headache that echoes like the drums in the forest

Your presence reprograms my every part
Making me human and highly  vulnerable with a torn heart that continually spill and fill the red sea

Are you happy seeing my tears tear me apart?
Not even the greatest laboratory can separate my tears from the volume of water in the ocean

To the things that couldn't change and to the Love I couldn't get

Some things in life are constant and true,
Unchanging despite time and all we do
The sun still rises, day by day,
Bringing light to drive the night away

The stars shine bright in evening skies,
A celestial map, where love never dies
The ocean's roar, a sweet scary sound,
Reminding me of life's enduring round

My heartbeat and skip in fears and get consoled in tears
A rhythm that your angelic obdurate heart sings
The voltage of my love for you is so high that it can power the whole universe,  a bond so strong and true but belittled
I am still keen on forever ties with you, that right where we belong

Though seasons come and seasons go,
Some truths remain, forever aglow
The silent laughter, tears, and memories made,
Are treasures time cannot invade

That's why i wished i was God in one of the pieces you inspired me
I would have crafted this your sweet stubborn heart in a way it can't give pulse without without loving me and vise versa
A grand design with love and purpose, forever aligned
I would have wove constancy amidst life's tide,
To guide our hearts side by side in love serenade

In every thunder, I wish your hardest words will echo really aloud to me
In every starry nights, I wish you will smile to me and say I brightly love you too
Let  me into your heart Tor-kwase
The ocean's roar echoes my gentle voice,
Reminding you of my eternal choice but your ears are always closed just as you colonial heart

My heartbeat sticks with yours,
A rhythm that forever endures.
In love and bonds, I have enslaved my head to thee
To make our connection forever stand tall even if you care not

In eternity's perspective, I see,
The beauty of our relationship's destiny.
Timeless moments, forever in my sight,
A treasure trove of love and delight

AN ODE OF MY DEATH (Beyond Eulogy)

When my heartbeat fades, and silence claims
Your tears will fall, but were they there when I bore the pains?
A grand funeral procession, a slow mournfully, tearfully and dolefully pace
But where were you when I begged for a helping hand with a keenly gentle face?

In life's darkest hours, I cried out for aid
But your deafness left me shattered, and my soul betrayed
No comforting words, no guiding light
Left to face the shadows, alone in the endless night
I can't hear your emotional hymns and I can't  see your tears because I am deaf and blind to life

Oh, cruel world, where death unlocks your hearts
But in life, my pleas were met with cold, detached parts
You'll eulogize my fleeting days, with hollow praise
But I needed love, care, and warmth in life's desperate ways

A coffin adorned with flowers, a farewell show
A million naira spent on Izon Ebi's musical flow
But what of the tears I shed, the sleepless nights I bore?
Did you care then, or only now, in death's solemn score?

Not now, when my voice is stilled, my choice gone
Why did you wait until my final breath was drawn?
I longed for love, for aid and for care
Not just a dignified farewell, with empty air
Like the folktales of a crocodile tears

You weep for me, but what of those still alive?
Those struggling, crying, begging to survive?
Their heart beat with mine, their tears falling like rain that doesn't touch the ground
Do you hear their pleas, or only mourn the dead in vain?

O, fairest of maidens, if God will crown me
God for a day's brief reign, I would design
A love-gardened planet for you and I
In celestial aurora.

I will recreate thee in the evening's golden light
And impart unto thee my own heart's deepest might
In heavenly gardens, our hearts entwine and sprout beyond.

With tender care, I will nurture thy love's sweet seed, my Queen
And in thy soul, my whispers gently speed
Through labyrinths of love, our paths would meet and stick
Till time dies and resurrect no more

In perfection, your smiles will never fade,
And your laughter never ends, like the beauty of time
And the art of nature; our hearts forever beat.

But mortal, I remain, with heart aflame,
Longing to enfold thee in love's sweet name,
With human plea, I vow to cherish thee,
Forevermore, my love, my heart's decree.

In dreams, our love shines brighter than the sun,
Moon, and stars combined, our love is one and strong.
Thou art my heartbeat, my soul's delight,
In thine eyes, my love doth take its flight.

Forever with thee, my love shall shine,
A beacon in eternity, our hearts entwined,
Till time itself be no more, and we remain
Forever bound, in love's sweet golden chain.

Then you won't ask if it will change anything again,
Because you're proudly mine.
