Cars shriek in gridlock,
anger gnaws at my chest,
and I *******
in saltwater and sweat.

With wrinkles and claws,
anxiety squeals in the city
within my sanctity of
hounds-tooth and cotton.

Welling up with tears,
the sky, muggy and thick
drips and sniffles:
a heavenly tantrum.

Today
I decided to swallow
my pills all at once.
But mom told me
No,
You'll choke and die,
So I took them
one
by
one.

Jays paddle the clouds
of blue and orange:
oily jazz and
stark bar lines.
Musky mist sags
and wrinkles, pickled
breaths: nature's incense.

The requiem of
incense and wine
suffocates and
blinds with white
and awaits joy
as the chorus
sings lies.

He was a caterpillar,
a youth, an intellect. The
air cleansed his golden locks
in the midst of humid
springtime, and the horns
sounded his spirit and
sang his name when he
was too shy to introduce
himself. Shallow footprints
followed  his path and
sweat stung his eyes and
trickled the creeks of his face.

As we would sing
into each others'
eyes, the moon
clapped along to
our celestial beat
and our souls
danced with bodies
of stars. We
worshiped the
sun and folk
music until
we burned with
joy, the day
the world
ended.

Apathy sits in the windowsill
in a ripped jean jacket
yawning at thunderstorms.
