"Nigeria's Future"
Obukov Etudoh Oct 2014
So much talk about me; my dreams, my goals, my desires
So what then; when, how, who can realize the change I require?
My yesterday, my today, my future all entwined
My kids celebrate me, but have only wined and dined

Listen faintly, to a bit of my life’s story
As a colony of empires I was; my history!
I was birthed to treasure seeking hunters
Merely over-shadowing the fore-fathers

Merged and named after a flowing River from within
“Nigeria” was and is; Nineteen Hundred and Fourteen
I would have to call this, my naming ceremony
I sensed motley feelings; no empire, no colony

Crowned as the giant of Africa; behold, my birthday
Perhaps, this started the beginning of my future today?
Outdated assumptions; are the thrown away weights
Our economic growth the world watches and waits

Stop the whining yesterday; start an act today, and stand
All we have to do is look into ourselves, our hands
Overlook the past, create a change today, you and I can
Yes!, you, me; we all are “Nigeria’s Future”.

Down Thrown Crown
Obukov Etudoh Mar 2014
Seen around the crowd
She shows her crown
Notably she seen proud
Claiming her crown as fine and round

Unknowingly misled with instructions
She heads only towards destruction
And with timer far spent
She got no lessons learnt

Looking up to her throne,
She has been down thrown
As though washed by the rain
She no longer reigns

Still on her head her crown lies
Weeping her pleads dies
But on her head she sees no crown
Because her crowns’ been thrown down as frowns

Cloudy Dreams
Obukov Etudoh Mar 2014
Sunk in my bed I dream
Smoky and foggy it is dim
Trapped in the midst of mist I sleep
I could only in clouds weep

In my very eyes
I see but ice
As my tears blur my every picture
And reflect a blank black future

Some where in my dreams
Sun rises through the dims
And with beams, swallows all dims
Into pools of shallow streams

My tears now reveal crystal clear sparkles
With lots of diamond sprinkles
Transparent via glassy structures
Beyond the clouds are treasured pleasures

My Part of me
Obukov Etudoh Mar 2014
Life is ample as a being and worth living
Words not enough to expound my feeling
Feeling of loneliness yanking a part of me

How can I survive being detached from me?
What may perhaps detach me from me?
You thing called space, I have queried; why?

Why have you cloned a part of you?
You, yes you; between my path of me?

My part of me, distance has arrested you
And placed me in a cell with thoughts of me
Trapped, waiting to exhale but inhale you

You have become a part of my me
Thank you a lot, thoughts
Missing you has molded you a part of me

My DNA
Obukov Etudoh Mar 2014
Hey, you look like me
My mirror reflection
My left-handedness
My beautiful birth mark

I don't need no doctor
Nor do I need tests
You are a part of me
I am a part of you

We fit like gloves
Worn on a right arm
How amazing
While am gazing

At peace, I can tell
You complete me
Not lost but found
My DNA, oh yes!!!

I Cry
Obukov Etudoh Mar 2014
Pains as piercing pins
Create bleeding heart within
Tears like rushing waters
Flows through pregnant eyes

As though whipped, I wiped
Weeping and seeking
I’m found in a desert
Deserted, I travel ahead

Peaceful and calm
Victory has come my way
Still I cry but joy
Joy no bounds can hold

Flowing down my cheeks
Tears go like streams
Down down it’s gone
As dried cries of joy

Friendship
Obukov Etudoh Mar 2014
Only for a reason
I’m attached to you
Caring and sharing in pretense
I’m around you, just for a reason

For a season I’m there
Although as a timer
Devoted for a duration of time
I’m gone only as a season

Not for a reason
Nor for a season
To destroy walls of prisons
I’m always there, calling

I’m there, not for a time
But a life time
To you only, all I spend
Cause I’m indeed a friend

My Life Time
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
Days to people mean different things
A new leaf to plants mark growth
A larva turns butterfly reflects change
What does this day mean to me?

It could be another day
It is just another birthday
Another year to my stay
Maybe just some remembrance day?

Seconds, Minutes, Hours and days
Weeks, Months, Years and times
One question that comes to mind
As the clock strolls ticking by

What have I done all these years?
What can I do this year?
What will I do in years to come?
My life has a story to tell

Snap Shot
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
Blood pumping, heart beating
Pores opening, sweat pouring
Mare thought picturing feelings
More pain featuring within

Coming to light
Commune in sight
Days of lone
Comforts the zone

Fairy tale prince
Come rescue me
Picture the brush in hand
Delete the crush on land

Painting now revealing
Feelings how believing
Before the button, a pause
Questions to want, because

The Wind
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
The wind has blown in my direction
The air feels pleasant
I ponder and wonder
Has it brought me good or bad?

Standing firm in all condition
I perceive the dust blown by the wind
Sweet I most say
It is telling a message

The dust runs into my eyes and nose
There is a feel of peace inside of me
The wind has blown something good indeed
Grateful I stand by the wind again

Life Applauds
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
Feel the sensation
Hear the motion
See true vision
Touch Blue Ocean

Look how devotion
Has made provision
And no delusion
Can stop distinction

Life’s set omissions
Has shown directions
And made deliberations
That birth celebrations

Real heart motivation
Create pure liberation
Sense the inspiration
Life applauds determination.

Hello, World of Yesterday
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
In time past
Memories to last
The life to be
A world to see

Drifting from goodbyes
Not lost in blue skies
Journey to become
Looks like beyond

Living at now
The past is shown
Future but how?
Still to be known

Lit to shine as a candle
Placed within a cradle
The far life whispers today
“Hello, World of Yesterday”.

Moats
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
In a colony of harmony we stayed
Clustered in hot huts we laid
Until the sun arose to strangers
With harvested crops of dangers

Though maimed to bargain
We could only perceive pain
As twisted tongues fell deaf on ears
While weaponry echoed in hears

With sways we slay
In tears we pray
Trailed and tried defenseless
The verdict returned headless

In anarchy we mourn the reds
In black sack wears
As our soils watered with tears
And in sweat we dug moats in fears

Beauty
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
I haven’t been seen in space
and cannot be seen on faces
Because I dictate the pace in races
And stand distinct in places

Am not seen when dressed up
Neither I’m I seen on make-ups
But I’m the peace that men hold
Not what they tend to behold

Although silent, I’m heard aloud
And often I’m hidden but seen around
I’ve stayed up high as lighter
Shining only always brighter

I’m beauty not on the outside
But that right on the inside
I’m therefore beautiful,
Because I’ve got character

Where Art Thou Beloved?
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
On praying i kneel
A dream what to be
the life i want so free
my love oh yet to see

Like feathers from two birds
duet love songs are heard
but twisted in history
is the borrowed mystery

who mirrors and out reflection
debt only the deflection
a price there is that may
my all could not but pay

the fate less strong
faithful done wrong
where art thou beloved?
i pray indeed my love.

My Bone
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
Like gun, I hold my bone tight
Overwhelm with power I’m high
Fierce and angry at other dogs I bark
And to their heels I see their backs

As talent, I guide my bone jealously
Like egg, I carry it gently
Prepared and planning others await my fall
Ready to attack they come for all

Distracted I’m engaged I n battle
As though bitten by a rattle
My bone is lost to a third – party
Although not a part, he’s gone to party

Down cast I go in dismay
My bone has gone with no pay
And tomorrow too late for amend
‘Cause, my bone has come to an end.

The Pawn
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
Toasted on the board
so unnoticed as bored
i am given as a gambit
to be but a bait

Bait with a void
that defines avoid
we are the soldiers
we know are sold outs

I admire the king
desire to be queen
require my shield to be seen
and acquire no shied in me

The warrior, the conqueror
the pawn i was
a queen i am
Kingdom the finish line

What I love about Nigeria
Obukov Etudoh Feb 2014
What is here so fine!
    What does Nigeria define?
    True democracy?
    Mere literacy?

    Good old days we praise
    Today's faith we raise
    Happiest beings on earth
    Survivors, yes from birth

    The world's awaited invention
    Four Hundred and Nineteen(419) injections
Immune is the world, oh corruption!
    Awareness a skin deep innovation

    Rich geographical virtues
    Hospitable family values
    Wealth, milk and honey
    Our destiny how sunny

Our hope the pride we know
    Fulfilments the future we show
    I applaud greatness oh!!
    I hate Nigeria, No!!!
