And His Enemy
Pip Jun 2018
The church bells ring softly
The dreamers think fondly
A dark veil lowers over the unity
Of a sullen, gray community
Hymns are sung in sorrow
But the sun will rise tomorrow
Will they try again?
They're going to give in
Demons sing a chorus
For the one who went before us
Knowing he will seek revenge
On the one that broke him off henge
The angels gaze in fear
Knowing his goal is so clear
The lost heir of the world
Smiles as his flags unfurl
He'll haunt the man that brought him his demise
More generations in on the surprise
He bares his fangs are the world that brought him down
He won't go out until he's worn his agate crown
The people that once loved him
Now he has them by the chin
No flowers on his grave
No sacrifices gave
He spends all his hours
Toppling world powers
The ones that loved his novelty
Shrink back from his cruelty
After a while the generations found a way
To shield him away from the light of day

But here he comes
What great fun
Watching all the children scream
Look closely you'll see the gleam
There, the eyes
See their prize
And lean in for the kiss
Now he's the king and there's no one to dismiss
The killing sprees
The fantasies
He accomplished in one blow
Make sure all the world will know
Growing unrest
Puts him to the test
Can he handle it alone
No, he can't make it on his own
He claimed his reward
And was taken by the sword

The church bells ring softly
The dreamers think fondly
A dark veil lowers over the unity
Of a sullen, gray community

Flag
Pip Jun 2018
From the top of the highest peak
Stands the lone flag of victory
They say it's been there
Since the start of the war
For as long as human eyes can see

It's made of colors
Never used in war
Never bloodstained once
Like all others before

The lone flag of victory
Never tasted defeat
Which is funny
Considering
Victory's not its feat

It's a proclomation
A demostration
A flag of sight and flight
Every victory that crept in
Under the flag's pearly gates
Never paid with blood

The people of the world
Consider it humane
The ways a war can be won

Bloodshed is a price
The slaves are willing to pay
But the rich ponder the terms
In which they can make escape

Only smart individuals
Know what that flag means
It's a crack just along the nape
The flag knows no bloodshed and sorrow
Maybe it'll come down today
Or maybe tomorrow

We can't be sure
Why God sat that flag up so high
Resulting in the calling
Of many to come and die

The flag of purple and white and red
The flag of millions of long forgotten dead
The golden emblem that rivals the sun
Years upon years ago
The fight had just begun
Eh this isn't that good

I Heard from a Friend
Pip May 2018
I heard from a friend
Who heard from a friend
That the end of the end
Was about to begin
That the end of the war
Would be reached like before
That the end of the times
Would come up as gray signs
Someone said go to bed
They're infecting your head
You'll never see it come
In your lackluster fun
I heard from a friend
Who heard from a friend
That the end of the end
Would begin from within

Agate Crown
Pip May 2018
I heard through the grapevine
You got rid of me
For someone far more skilled
Than I'll ever be

There's no ill will
Just an abrupt stop
From the world I called my home
The only place I could belong

I hold no agate crown
In assumptions we all drown
Pip May 2018
Stretching farther and farther away
Slithering across the tethers of the unknown
Lies a thought
A careless thought
A empty thought
Rising horizons never considered
Once a thought becomes too prominent
I'll turn my satellite away
The vacuum of reason and knowledge beckons
Calls the human race
I turn my satellite once more onto the vast cry of silence
Waiting to be heard
I gaze down into the abyss
Of the second Heaven
The plane of abstraction
The plane of thought
I ponder the endless unknown
My eyes dance between the celestial bodies
My mind is but a planet
I see my star
I'm covered in my atmosphere
My core is heavy and turbulent
Others see their stars is different ways
My sun is yellow
The Martian's, blue
The Mercurian sees a blur
The Venusian's mind is too clouded
The Plutonian claims gray
Too many thoughts to consider
Too many stars
Too many ideas
Planets crash into another
Others lose contact with their star
I'm not too far away
From life
Black holes bend understanding
Rewriting what was never written down
Dust covers ideas never pondered
Supernovae are memories of what was
My satellite catches a small portion of what can be
And what is
I can only look so far behind me
The farther I look
The more I think
The more I think
The more I see
The more I see
The more I look
The more I want to look
The more I need to look
Blue and red lights bend and bounce
Confusing my satellite
I make an unbroken leap into nothing
Hoping to find something
To prove
To the first Heaven
That it can be done
I look and find nothing
Why is this?
Silence is a sound
It tempts me to go further
I reach a halt
Not the edge
But a blockage
A wall
It is everything I've ever known
My satellite can't comprehend it
The quasars never spoke of this
The chill of absolute zero never confirmed this
My heart trembles
My stomach churns fast
This is a monster
What felt empty
Feels alive with passion
Everything combines to form an eternity
A second Heaven
The first stroke of a pen alters my thoughts
Everything crashes together
I must make notes before
I condemn it all
My satellite
So small compared to the galaxies
Compared to the Nebulae
The natural satellites
Of the universe
Sing a song of wry
I can't understand
I'll never understand
The thoughts
Of others
Not in my intimate second Heaven

Haut Monde Hounds
Pip May 2018
I'm not jealous of how the wind blows
Or why the dog howls
Or why nobody knows
The truth about me
I just want to be free
From the cage I put myself in
And no one has the key

I want to hug the sky
And leave the earth
And prove to them all
Just what I'm worth

But the stars are very far away today
And they'll always be this distance
But I'll never look away

I shouldn't have to prove
To the world
That there's something I should be
They've drilled into our brains
The ways of society

But I won't be dragged down
By the haut monde hounds of liberty
I wrote this the other day and I'm not really sure why

— The End —
