How Do We Sleep?
A day ends as it began

Dark, cold....filled to the brim with the unknown

Like wisdom, she calls out

she knows my name

searching for something worth devouring.

Her gaze cannot be met

calmly she speaks sweetly

to the foolish so neatly until discreetly

her appetite is wet

A bright sun drowns out her cries

But she will return

She always comes back

in vain we prepare for her attack

Though her gaze sends trembling down my spine

her presence brings rest for my eyes

awakening my mind to fears

only dreamed about.

Hello Nyx

I can't play tonight

for I pray tonight

soon it will be bright

and for a short period of time

you return to Styx

at least for now....

Fade Away
Slowly, softly she twirls
throughout the world
simply fading away.
Like the running water
like an ignited flame
she captures the eyes
before she withers away.
The weight of a cloud
as thick as the blood
that is a drop in the cup of water.
She is in the mouth
she fills the lungs
slowing killing
as she dances in the light.
Sometimes in white
or maybe shades of gray
she plays until blown away.
She finds her life
in the embers of her passion
but even her source of life
slowly burns away.
Dancing, ever dancing
how she is romancing
how she is entrancing!
...Until breath she cannot endure
Until smoke she is no more
She is but a puff
and simply fades away.

One
One
I'm only one person.

Only one voice,

one mind,

one set of ribs that cages my

one heart.

I break

as one.

Not two,

not three.

I have one pair of legs,

that move one step at a time

to the many places

this one man desires to travel.

There is one attempt

at this one life

many years,

one man.

Only one,

not two,

or three.

Many choices,

many consequences

this one man can fall into.

One chance

to tell my one friend

how many hurts

hit my one heart.

One thousand enemies

bear down

but I put my trust

in the One God.

His one death

is my chance.

Not one,

or two,

but one million chances.

Wipe my one thousand tears

one more time

Twinkle twinkle little star...
how I wonder what you are...

Why so many?
Looking down on me?
Even my greatest joy,
is my worst enemy.

Always watching,
judging brightly
They plot to **** me
...nightly...

Evil shadows
lurk from their rays.
The scary strangers
asking to come out and play

I close my eyes
and dream of pain.
Thank god for the clouds
And all the rain

saturating me
in this muddy pit of shame
sinking, I am sinking
in the punishment that is your game

At least the rain,
from the clouds of course
covers the stars
of the evil they do force...

My Helm's Commander
How love strikes down so deep
The object, like a ship goes down
It’s captain, her words so sweet
My heart. A ship. A stolen crown

Lighter than the air surrounding
The captain, giving wings to ship
Yet piercing my heart, confounding
Slowly sinking, drip, drip, drip

Unbeknownst, my heartstrings she plays
Searching, she finds not one for her own
Yet found have I, all the days
My heart I give, her skipping stone

The rolling, rushing sea of thought
A tempestuous grave I dig
My mind, false conclusions brought
My heart, sent back to the brig

And so this captain, set for sail
Upon the unforgiving winds of change
My ship aground, put back by nail
A bulls-eye placed, her firing range

Walking now, alone it seems
For fear of a changing tide
I awake from a half remembered dream
Someday, I will have my bride.
