Diminished
NH Asher May 2015
Subtlety is lost on you
But this one isn't
It's the minor chord that strikes suddenly
Filling you with the palpable realization

That I love you more

And what does that to you?
Knowing that I am the one who
Laughs more
Remembers more
Lingers more
Grieves more

Loves more

Are you loathe to have settled?
Are you proud?
Are you powerful?
And me diminished?

nightmare
NH Asher Aug 2013
i had a dream
a nightmare really
you cheated
i watched

i watched as you moved in someone
the way you moved in me
it poisoned my mind
i grew sick

sick of you
but i love you
stabbed by you
but i love you

but i love you

You'll Be Famous
NH Asher May 2012
You sang me John Mayer in my ear
Eyes half-closed from drunken drowsiness
And happiness

I teetered and tottered, young next to you
A little rambunctious and uninhibitedly grinning
Into your pupils, black holes swimming in blue

It was not electric or chemical or explosive
It was unpredictable but apparent
It was real and it was raw and it was sweet

Your whispers linger in my heart still
The tender caress of your hand
Urgency and gentleness

I chose to leave
It was my decision
I understand this

And I know I a built a wall, claimed the title of introvert
But you know as well as I do
It meant something

One day you'll be famous and you'll have everything
You ever dreamed of, exactly like you planned
Your hopes, your ambitions, the one

And I will too, though I waver on that belief right now
I'll be wonderful too
And in the back of my mind, I imagine you will still remember the sweetness

We remain
NH Asher Apr 2012
And so it is this
You lash out in spite
A subtle surface wound
Straight down the middle
Of my open heart

It was only you
That could pry it open
Slowly, softly, oh, but surely
And slice where it is most tender
I am just flesh

Then I am stone
Cold as cracked glass
Shattered over pavement
Spilling onto the street
That I would cut you by chance

And your look of bewilderment
The indignant glare
The feigned nonchalance
As if you didn't care
But you do and I do

And so we remain, silent.
