Down into the projects we go
The place the white suburbs should never know
Nervous Energies cast fear aside
If we get spotted: Run! Duck! Hide!
One missed exit, a couple wrong turns
If we don’t materialize in time, the sickness will start to burn
Throw reason through the window, we’ll be nodding out for hours (on end)
A brief moment of relief, of apathy, chemically induced power
We come up on the spot, hurry up and wait.
Hope the runner arrives before it’s too late.
Flashing red lights notice us in their town
Only thing I can think to do is duck down
Hear the tap on the window turn into a pound
Black Cop asks me, “Whose the ****** now?”
******...yeah.
