I could
Talk about nature
Or give you my opinion on a subject
I could describe the
Unmistakable beauty
Of everything that is and ever was
Before us
I could touch your heart
With the tip of my pen
I could arrange words from my
Internal thesaurus
on this very page
That could move you
And change the way you see the world
Or even yourself!
I could
But
Iā€™m tired
Maybe tomorrow

I imagine if I tasted like anything
it might be okay at first and then
without warning you would start
coughing, you didn't realize this
orange juice had pulp, you didn't
think this was soy milk, was there
supposed to be peanuts in this? it
wasn't dark chocolate, I promise

I promise

I've had this saved in my drafts since November. I didn't like it back then, but I do now.

where do you go
and what do you
say, what do you
do, or think or cry?
or shake or wish
someone was there
to take your hair
and snotty nose
smile and say
well aren't you
just a mess
come here
come here

You spoke to a part of
me that needed a talking
to and even though college
stole your better half, I will
remember that even words
spoken with conviction will
not always be true

you taught me that.

Where I almost died
where I took the first
love of my life
where I yelled at the
sky
where I laughed and got
high
same path
same dirt
same good 'ol
Mother Earth
Another night
on this ground
where I grew
here's a puff
to forgetting her
and remembering
youth
