I wish I could hold your hand again,
Wish I could feel it caressing mine again,
Under the stars where we danced in our own rhythm,
Wish I could do it again.

It didn't have to end like this,
Leaving us both completely shattered.
I miss that oceanic abyss,
Where for the first time your eyes had me flattered.

For some time you had me lost in that beautiful maze,
When till midnight at stars we'd gaze.
"Could it get any better?", I said,
Good to bad, bad to worse, these things left me half dead.

No, I don't think about you anymore,
Less out of desire, more out of necessity.
Love is a drug, you WERE my drugstore,
Only if every 'were' was an 'are' 'cause
Fake stuff made me weak, I ain't got time for 'em chores,

Love and fortune,
Two entities antagonistic.
What followed was hatred and misfortune,
Why wasn't I more realistic.

What I'd wanted, What you gave me, Poles apart.
What you offered, I rejected.
I know I need it now, please, let's make a fresh start.

What If
Mohamad Ali Aug 2018
'What If'

Stuck between **** it, and what if
Two words with endless possibilities;
At times, life can be rusty, hurtful, and stiff,
Dragging you away from the span of your capabilities.

Sometimes I wonder, how the world would be,
If we said what we meant and meant what we said;
But can it really be so carefree?
When the "sweet" people you trust are the ones you'll regret?

You were the one I always chose,
But at the end of it, you left me with no choice,
You pushed me to the thorns, while all I craved for was the rose.
All I'm left with is "What If".

What if you wonder where I am in life,
What if you remember that campfire night
when we got close and we looked into each others eyes;
What if you felt all those butterflies.

There's no life in living, if there's no risk or doubt in life,
Cause there is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky;
And you ask "what if I fall?"
Oh, but my love
"What if you fly?"
