You were there, outside my window,
In a brand new suit and tie.
I let you in, because I thought I
Was a mess, you'd wear with pride.
You, pulled my dress off
And laid me down, for the first time.
I let you in, because in my heart I'm
Just so naive.
You were there, inside my mind,
Still in that, sweet pink tie.
And you became, the twinkle in my eye,
And every single, star in my sky.
I, fell so in love with
You, my reason, and my rhyme.
And my dear, it'd be a crime,
If our love burned out before its time.
And darling you,
Are just so sublime
Standing out there, in that suit and tie.
But its been forever since,
You were out there.
Now you're only, in my mind.

Dear I just can't forget
How your lips caressed mine,
Or wrapped around a cigarette.
Your stare still penetrates,
Though it hasn't met mine
In quite some time.
The ghosts of your fingertips
Dance along
Every inch of my skin,
And your smell still lingers
In the many folds
Of my sheets.
You're hiding at every corner
And lurking
Around every turn.
I can't quite escape
The memories of you,
They've invaded my senses dear.
You're trapped
In every piece of me,
Yet you're miles and miles away

I've counted every firefly
Waiting for you
One
You have stars in your eyes
Two
And stardust in your lungs
Three
Your voice will drip with honey
Four
My counting's just begun
Sixteen
Every day will be and adventure
Seventeen
I'll travel the world with you
Eighteen
We won't have to leave the bed
Nineteen
My world will be you
Forty-three
We'll compare scars
Forty-four
And swap the best stories
Forty-five
We won't care about accomplishments
Forty-six
We're each other's greatest glories
One hundred and eight
I'm getting lonely dear
One hundred and nine
I counted this firefly twice
One hundred and ten
The waiting will be worth it
One hundred and eleven
You'll be my only vice
One thousand and twenty-one
I don't think you're coming
One thousand and twenty-two
I lost count a long time ago,
I hope you're counting too.

They were scared of the dark
And the monsters under the bed.
I guess they all forgot
Real monsters live in your head.
They come out to play
When the sun sets in your eyes.
The skin you wear
Is just a tricky disguise.
Inside you're green
And your claws are large.
Your sweet voice is gone,
Becoming the sound of a battle charge.
So don't light a match,
We don't even need a spark.
Just turn the lights off,
The truth comes out in the dark.

When you come to see me, dear,
Wear stars in your eyes
So I know you're true.
And when you speak to me
Keep honesty in your voice
So I believe in you.
When you come to see me, dear,
I'll wear my heart on my sleeve
So you know that I am true.
And when I speak to me
I'll have flowers on my tongue
Because I believe in you

I built dreams with you
And breathed them in like air.
I thought we'd last forever,
Instead of just a second.
But you turned into carbon monoxide in my lungs
And I choked til I turned blue;
Which is how I stayed
Til, even though I was still in love,
You turned and walked away.

Things are calling me away again.
The stars are tugging my hand,
Leading me towards infinity.
The river has engulfed me once more
And is rushing me to its end.
Things are calling me away again.
The smoke that full my lungs
Inflated them enough for me to fly.
My gas pedal is propelling me
To adventures unknown.
Things are calling me away again,
And I couldn't be happier to comply.
