I used to be numb inside,
I didn’t want to try new things,
I didn’t care about my health,
I didn’t care if I lived or died,
I was just going through the motions of life,
  Content to remain stagnant and miserable,
Then one day I started to care,
I wanted to be better,
I wanted to live,
I wanted to try new things,
I suddenly cared,
I had met a person,
This person believed in me,
This person inspired me to find myself,
This person may not change the world,
  But they changed my world,
I will be forever thankful,
Someday I hope to be that person for
  Someone,
The world needs more people like that.

As I walk down the road of life I feel alone,
I feel like I’m am island completely cut off from
  Other land,
But when I take time to close my eyes and
  reflect I can see the truth,
No one is an island,
No one is truly alone,
What we do, what happens to us does in fact
  Effect others,
We are social creatures even if we don’t
  Realize it,
We are all sharing this planet,
We are all playing the same game of life,
Instead of closing yourself off,
  Open up to the world,
Be kind and be humble,
Don’t let the world ruin who you are,
Be yourself, and encourage others to be,
Lend that helping hand,
Be what you want to be, be who you want.
  Be who you want others to be,
Be the light in a sometimes dark world
