Our world is broken, in misery.
Searching for purpose & a space in popularity.
But we find nothing, feeling once again alone,
The loneliness turns to depression,
Which that forms to self-hatred.
So we then put the emotions on ourselves, hoping to make the pain flee from us only to fill our veins with toxins, our lungs with chemicals, our skin with scars.
Soon our minds are flooded with things we never thought would enter our mind.
Two more shots;
Six more drags;
Ten more cuts;
Nothing can stop us now..
It’s too late.
We’re controlled, enslaved; addicted.

Soft crashes against the sandy shoreline
Waves charge towards my feet every so often
The smell of sea salt & evergreen trees run to my nostrils,
Breathing in, breathing out
Seagulls cry to one another as if to say they have found super
Deep blue curves in the distance form into off white foam
The cold water rushing to my ankles only to escape back into the ocean,
Sand sticking to the bottoms of my feet;

The warmth of the controlled flame comforts me,
Chasing away the icy feeling in my body
Curled on an old fashioned couch next to my sister
I share stories of past family trips.
The beach, the city, mountains, country.
But new journeys are to be taken
And new memories are to be made.

Fear is like a person, following you around,
Whispering things, which hold the same danger alike knives, into our minds.
‘Hey! They’re all staring at you. Do you even see how weird you look?!’
You can’t ignore this, fear is always with you.
‘Hey! Stop dancing, you look as if you’re trying to shake off a bug’
‘Hey! Why are you buying that? You really think it’s attractive?’
‘Hey Are you really gonna say that? That’s not the right answer, put your hand down.’
Fear is everywhere.

A lockbox keeps things inside, protected, stored away,
Safe from people who think they need to know what lies beneath
But what is hidden from sight must stay out of sight
For danger will arise if it is let out
People will become concerned if they peer into the wooden box
So shut it quick & tight!
Stuff it away in the back of the closet!
Never bring it out, they will try to mend it
You don't want it to be fixed.
No glue, tape or nails.
Nor therapy, advice, or. help of any.
The lockbox is my mind
And the horrors inside,
Well you will never know.

Why is it that in a world full of people, someone can feel so alone?
When they are surrounded by family & friends yet they feel like only one living thing on earth.
As if they are stuck in a dark hole with absolutely no way out.
What happened to our world?
What have we become?

I wanna scream
I wanna cry
I form the words but they run dry
I ask God why does this happen
But his response just feels like nothin’
I wanna speak
I wanna tell
That my existence feels like hell
My eyes welled up
I look at the sky
What does God have planned
Askin’ ‘why oh why?!’
I walk into church
Face straight to the floor
I look up and think
I just wanna run out the door
Don't wanna stay
Don’t wanna read
And I sure as hell don’t wanna pray
Later that night
While I hide alone
Holding in the pain with all my might
Lay in bed
Thoughts wondering
Where am I headed?
