It Was A Different Time
Miss Star Oct 2016
It was a different time

In this dream of mine,

When I looked in my eyes,

I didn't find mine,

When I looked in a river,

Something beyond life,

I listened for a sound,

And was greeted by

Silence.

There,

A vision of tormented faces,

Desperate in their longing for love,

Many holding on for dear life

Onto a vain ego

Always desiring power over others,

All the misery,

All the suffering

Was shown to me in this flash,

But there was beauty in all of this,

For many began to want

To be born again,

And it was clear the old

Was no longer working anymore,

Only exacerbating the soul's emptiness,

Into a well of grief that went on to

Eternity.

I simply sat humbly

As an observer,

In a place where that was now

Foreign to me.

Taking in my own Light,

I held the power of God

Within me

Which I knew is within everyone.

Surreal Moment
Miss Star Oct 2016
i see a woman in white
standing sideways
between two pillars,
a flute sounds in the distance,
the blue skies are a tinge of grey,
and i want to hear the words she says,
she is incomprehensible
as she talks to the wind,
i am confused and full of dread.

it is like a scene
from a 60s surrealist film,
an ancient feeling in this moment,
the atmosphere is so old,
and mysterious by nature.

i ought not to be captivated so much
by these instances,
for where do they take me?
nowhere.

my heart is full of wonder,
wanting to lurch out my chest
from curiosity and desire.

yet a dove rests on my shoulder
kissing my neck gently,
he tells me to be calm.

Sound Of Crickets
Miss Star Oct 2016
wading in a river of sadness,
i immerse myself in the innocent
sound of the crickets.

a golden firefly passes
and he touches me,
a reminder that
god is here.

and suddenly,
all my loneliness disappears,
all my sorrow trails off
into a valley
some-where.

i ask the sky a question
and a shooting star
winks at me.

Shells From A Beach
Miss Star Oct 2016
With water, I forget my thirst,
With light, I don’t remember the dark,
In joy, I have no memory of loneliness,
In hope, I ask, “What is despair?”
Then, I recollect them again
Like shells from a beach,
Until I release them back into the ocean
With freedom and a smile.

Nothing For Granted
Miss Star Sep 2016
Cynics in their foolishness say,
“Life is insignificant,”
And I pity them as they
Do not know the wonders of this world.

When you understand
That life is truly a gift,
Precious and invaluable,
You learn to appreciate all things.

I wept taking in the beauties of yesterday
And I weep taking in the beauties of today.

The sound of the crickets which seem so commonplace,
I express thanks to God for,
The soup an elderly woman daily shares with me,
I understand is not forever,
The times I go biking by the shore
Are kept in my heart’s memory,
The moments spent with my loved ones,
Are vague and tender images in my mind.

I am overwhelmed with humility to be able to experience,
And I cry tears of gratitude and joy.
