Mell Aguiar Jun 2021
Light hot air settled in around me,
wrapping its arms around my body
and folding me into its embrace.

Together we travelled over the long riverside
with a trunk of golds and pinks and
branches of strong-running rivulets
holding onto buoyant groups of geese
usually grazing out on the adjacent, greener commons.

I let my arms hang freely by my sides,
the tips of my fingers gliding over the waters edge,
my shoulders melting back, resting in a cloud of fog.

Water
Mell Aguiar Dec 2019
The lucidity of lies
Lie like water in our eyes,
Dropping down as we say our goodbyes.
Our faces masked, we have on our disguise.
Their words string on; we surmise.
Puppets upon a string, lost in a sunrise;
Night is over: that's my surprise.
The sun is up, and we broke our ties.
Like water we lie, although in the skies.
The hurt begins to crystallize;
Never again will we synchronize.
